Rationale

The international community has had a long and collaborative engagement with the people of Afghanistan and is committed to providing humanitarian, political and development support. Projects and programmes are implemented throughout Afghanistan however there is a growing recognition that delivering such assistance and maintaining an operating presence in Afghanistan is not without a number of significant challenges and risks. Not only are there security issues and actions undertaken by armed non-state actors who actively seek to disrupt the delivery of humanitarian and development support, but the international community works within an increasingly complex social, political and economic environment.

The Collaborative Monitoring and Risk Management in Afghanistan website, has been developed in the recognition that no single agency, fund, programme, donor, humanitarian or development actor can address these issues alone. It is only through collaborative effort, that we are best able to identify challenges, and then together identify and implement solutions.
